Beaming him up

The ashes of Star Trek actor James Doohan, who died on Wednesday, are to be sent into space at his request.

  1. Hi Margaret

Sad news…I was just waiting for some newsreader or other yesterday to say “Beam me up Scotty….” but, out of respect, I guess they didn’t want to. Maybe some day they’ll invent a way of reconstituting ashes to revive him. Particulate reconstitution.

    Regards

Last year I was invited to the big Hollywood bash in honour of Jimmy and his getting a star on Hollywood Boulevard, which saw the coming-together of all Star Trek stars past and present (including the first man on the moon, Neil Armstrong).

He was in bad shape back then. He did have some lucid moments when he expressed his joy to us over seeing some fellow Canadians.

    He will be sorely missed.

Wende, you have been most gracious last year when we met. You have been Jimmy’s wife for the last 28 years, and I just want to let you know that you and your family are in our hearts and prayers in this time of loss and mourning. Jimmy was, correction: IS, a great man.
