  1. 15 years ago, there was a memorable ITI trip I went on, when in London, to the National Gallery at Trafalgar Square with a witty gallery-guide commentary – without any notes – on St. Jerome, with slides of sketches and paintings on this saintly figure, in a private lecture theatre.

    That’s also the last time I saw the late FITI Russian /English scientific translator John Sykes, inveterate and many-times winner of the Times Crossword Puzzle.
