This is an embarrassing question – I’ve never tried them. The English equivalent has sponge cake and artificial cream inside, for example the head might be a blob of artificial cream, with a thin frosting. I wouldn’t call them petits fours in English, because I’d expect something more elegant and varied there. – Googling has not helped much. Perhaps I’ll try one next year!
Another New Year speciality is a salami in a cloth case in the shape of a pig (pigs stand for good luck).
What are they made of? I’ve seen these before, but I’ve never had one.
