The farm next door now does a roaring trade in growing and selling green asparagus, and very good it is, too. It does seem to be all the rage this year, although the Mainz market last Saturday was still dominated by white asparagus so obscenely thick it should be covered up (like Victorian chair legs).
I was wondering whether to drive round the Knoblauchsland and see if I could photograph a green asparagus field, but I thought it might be a wild goose chase.
