British writers and American publishers

Belle de jour, the famous and perhaps suspect callgirl-blogger – I mean the British one, since there was an equally suspect German one – writes about changes to her book required by a U.S. publisher.

A sentence containing the word ‘Rome’ must now also include the word ‘abroad’. Presumably so the reader will know I didn’t spend my holiday in Rome, Georgia.
