Note the video clip of the Ian Knot on the FAQ page. I had to think a long time before I could distinguish it from the Standard Shoelace Knot. In fact the end result is the same, except that the Ian Knot starts with a first knot, which must slow things down.

Perlentaucher.de is a website that summarizes and links to print and other media on literature, above all the arts pages of the big German-language newspapers. It has an RSS feed too.
And it has an English version, signandsight, which has led to more articles on German literature in the foreign press than there used to be (it translates Feuilleton as feuilleton, but still).
Apparently the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung thinks Perlentaucher is making money from other people’s work. A recent court decision finding that Perlentaucher had misquoted the FAZ was reported there in vitriolic terms.
There is an ongoing court case where the plaintiffs are the FAZ and SZ (Süddeutsche Zeitung) and the defendant Perlentaucher, on the subject of whether summarizing reviews is plagiarism. The papers lost at first instance. The appeal is scheduled for 24 July.

Deutsche Sprachwelt reports that the German Wikipedia is in the process of purging a large number of articles, mainly on associations for the preservation of standards in the German language:
Bereits gelöscht sind Lexikonartikel über den Tag der deutschen Sprache, die Theo-Münch-Stiftung der Deutschen Sprache oder die Liste der Druckmedien in alter Rechtschreibung. In einem Löschverfahren der Vorstufe zur Löschung befinden sich gegenwärtig zum Beispiel Artikel über die Stiftung Deutsche Sprache, die Henning-Kaufmann-Stiftung zur Pflege der Reinheit der deutschen Sprache, den Verein für deutsche Rechtschreibung und Sprachpflege, das Netzwerk Deutsche Sprache, den Deutschen Sprachrat, den Verein Rat für deutsche Rechtschreibung oder den Redaktionsstab der Gesellschaft für deutsche Sprache e.V. beim Deutschen Bundestag. Auch der Eintrag über den Verein für Sprachpflege, der die DEUTSCHE SPRACHWELT herausgibt, ist betroffen. Daneben sind zahlreiche Artikel zur Plansprache Esperanto von der Löschung bedroht.
